As Governor Abba marks three extraordinary years of visionary and people-centered leadership under His Excellency, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, and what a remarkable journey it has been! Governor Abba has not just governed — he has ignited a revolution of development, touching every sector and every corner of our dear state with unmatched dedication and purposeful action. From rescuing education from decades of neglect to opening up roads and opportunities, from revitalizing healthcare and agriculture to empowering youth and women across all 44 local government areas, his administration has delivered tangible dividends of democracy at an unprecedented pace. Over 900 documented achievements stand as undeniable proof of this transformative impact, with reports confirming that more than 85% of his campaign promises have been fulfilled in record time. Kano is truly rising under Abba — Gida Gida style!7
Right from his first day in office, Governor Abba declared a state of emergency in education and backed it with unprecedented resources, allocating nearly 30-31% of the state budget to the sector — far exceeding UNESCO recommendations. He has employed thousands of new teachers, rehabilitated and constructed countless classrooms, provided benches, desks, textbooks, uniforms, and modern learning materials so no child sits on the floor. Free education from primary to secondary levels, the reopening of girls’ boarding schools, dedicated transportation for the girl-child, and massive scholarships including sponsorship of over 1,000 postgraduate students abroad have slashed dropout rates, boosted enrollment dramatically, and produced outstanding results — with Kano emerging as a top performer in national examinations like NECO. Abandoned projects have been revived, and state institutions strengthened, earning him the NUT Golden Award and multiple Governor of the Year honors for education.4
This momentum extends across infrastructure where his administration has completed long-abandoned road projects in the metropolis, constructed new township and feeder roads, and driven urban renewal while linking rural communities for better trade and access. In healthcare, funding has surpassed the Abuja Declaration benchmarks, with the recruitment of hundreds of medical professionals, renovation of key facilities like Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital, new clinics, and improved service delivery reaching the grassroots. Agriculture has seen a boost through the distribution of free fertilizers worth billions to tens of thousands of smallholder farmers, major irrigation initiatives like the Jakara Dam project, and support programs aimed at food security and rural development. Water supply has improved with boreholes and repairs across communities, while youth and women empowerment initiatives — including skills training, grants, entrepreneurship programs, and direct monthly support packages — have uplifted thousands, fostering economic independence.16
Local governments have been truly empowered with direct funding, leading to renovations of over a hundred classroom blocks, health posts, solar lighting for mosques, and other grassroots projects that ensure no community is left behind. Workers’ welfare has been prioritized with payments of outstanding benefits, and revenue generation reforms have positioned Kano strongly for greater financial independence. These strides have not gone unnoticed, earning Governor Abba prestigious accolades including African Governor of the Year for Good Governance, multiple Governor of the Year awards from leading publications, the Pillar of Nation Building, Financial Architect Governor, and recognition for youth development and transparency.3
Kano needs Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf because he is the right leader delivering the right results at the right time. In a state blessed with a vibrant population, entrepreneurial energy, and rich cultural heritage, we require continuity of this focused, inclusive, and integrity-driven governance to sustain and accelerate the progress already achieved. He has restored public trust, prioritized human capital development as the ultimate equalizer, built infrastructure as the engine of growth, and ensured equitable development that reaches every LGA without bias. Disrupting this momentum now would reverse the gains in education, healthcare, agriculture, and empowerment that are laying a solid foundation for a prosperous future. Kano’s children are learning better, our youth are acquiring skills, families are seeing real improvements, and the state is emerging as a model of good governance in Nigeria.
His Excellency, Abba Kabir Yusuf, stands as a true hero of our time — a humble servant-leader with fire in his vision and commitment to the people. The achievements speak volumes, the impact is felt by all, and the future under his continued guidance is undeniably bright.

Happy 3rd Anniversary, Your Excellency! May Allah continue to grant you wisdom, strength, and greater successes as you build the Kano of our dreams. The people stand with you. The progress is real and unstoppable. Kano is rising! Long live the People’s Governor! Long live Kano State!
